Christmas Tree Recycling

This years tree-cycle takes place at the farm Saturday, January 5 th, 2008.
Please drop off your tree between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. In the Carnation and Duvall area, local Scouts deliver flyers in the neighborhoods from which they will collect trees as a fundraiser. They will start collecting trees Saturday at 9 a.m. and are asking for a $5 or more donation. All proceeds from the tree-cycling will benefit the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of Duvall and Carnation.

The trees will be chipped by crews from the Riverview School District using a chipper from a recycling grant.

Only undecorated, natural trees are accepted for recycling. No wreaths, swags, garland , flocked or artificial trees.

The trees at Carnation Tree Farm will benefit from using the chips as a mulch. This mulch provides a protective barrier for the tree roots while helping to prevent weed growth. The mulch then decomposes, providing the nutrients trees need to thrive and duplicating nature's recycling.

Ongoing Recycling Activities

During the 2006 year we worked with the King Conservation District to improve and protect the riparian corridor on our southern boundary. We continue to use the wood chips from our recycled Christmas trees to mulch this site.  Planting native vegetation increases biodiversity resulting in:
